They explored the elements of dance by leaping, bursting and stretching.

We expect our teacher to..

• To give clear examples of what we need to do.
• Be a happy teacher.
• Challenge us.
• Respect us.
• Give us challenging homework.
• Give us lots of writing.
• Be hygienic. 
• Be funny and not grumpy.
• Play games with us.
• Make sure we are happy.
• Give us free time.
• Teach us.
• Listen to us.
• Teach us some creative art.

I expect children in Room 2 to..

• Be respectful to all teachers in our learning space.
• Listen carefully when their peers or the teachers are speaking.
• Use their manners inside and outside of the classroom.
• Treat others how they would like to be treated.
• Put your hand up when you want to speak.
• Have everything organised for their learning at the beginning of the day.
• Give everything a go and challenge themselves.
• Talk to me if they are unsure of anything or if they need to tell me something.
• Ask questions.
• Come to school each day focused and ready to learn.

These are the expectations that the children have come up with together for the teacher this year and also what the teacher expects of them.

I hope you have all had a fantastic summer holiday and are ready for a fun filled year.

I am extremely excited to begin my teaching career here at West End School and I am sure that it is going to be an excellent year filled with some great learning experiences.

I am of Māori and Cook Island ethnicity and I am originally from Tawa, Wellington and moved to Palmerston North five years ago to study Sport and Exercise Science at Massey University. I also completed the one year teaching diploma last year through Massey and am now set to begin my teaching career. My fiance is a teacher also and we have a three year son named Declan. My interests include Sport, Music and spending time with family and friends.

Tracy the Olympian

Tracy Keith-Matchitt visited West End School today and here are some things she talked about:

-Perseverance made her discover her love of swimming
-Training, determination, commitment and effort are important
-Went to Russia for the world champ in 2015

"No matter how hard it is give it your best, don't give up"
People have told her she won't make it or have been negative and she didn't listen. If she had listened, she wouldn't be going to the 2016 Olympics.
